5 tips for blogging like a pro

Do you want to blog like a pro?

Well listen up because you don’t become a pro by instinct. It takes time, research and some well-thought-out decisions.

Here’s my top 5 tips that’ll have you on the path to blogging like a pro.

1. What do you know about?

By blogging about something you actually know about you will:

  • Find it easy to write and enjoy it too.
  • Sound like you actually know what you are talking about. Be the expert not the amateur.
  • Build an audience that is a reflection of you.

2. Study your audience

If you want to be a ‘pro’ at this blogging thing, then you need to know who your audience are.

  • What kind of person reads your content?
  • What posts do your readers engage with (comment on, share, like)?

3. Be consistent

If you want to create a successful blog, consistency is key!

  • Post regularly. If that means only once a week or once a fortnight, that is OK. The main point is that you keep consistency so your audience anticipates your next post. If you only create new content once a week then try creating some hype around when your next post will hit the net.
  • Create content that is similar. Don’t post about how much you love fishing followed by what’s going on in politics! This goes back to knowing who your audience is.

4. Plan your time wisely

If you’re time poor, plan in advance. The ‘pro’ bloggers use social media management tools like Hootsuite, Buffer and TweetDeck to promote their content. Save your precious time by scheduling your posts for promotion. This way you can preselect the times and days you want your post to hit the wider web and you don’t have the stress of worrying about it later.

5. Connect

Nothing will create loyal readers more than a blogger who takes time for others in the blogging community.

Take the time  to:

  • Respond to comments.
  • Read other bloggers’ posts.
  • Comment on other bloggers’ posts.

If you take a hold of these 5 tips, you will find yourself blogging like a pro in no time.

  1. This is very helpful. I feel guilty on the consistency part. Haha!
    Thank you for sharing this.
I think it is important to cite the sources in case a blogger collected the data in related articles. Increase credibility with well written, informative, straight to the point and typo-free posts. 😀

    1. Thanks! Yes, I agree. Citing other bloggers and linking to their posts not only creates credibility but it also grows your blogging community by increasing the likelihood of them looking at your blog etc. Grammar really is key, hey!
